Burton F. Siskin Obituary
March 7, 1930 - November 18, 2016 Burt passed away on Friday morning, a little short of his 87th birthday. Burt was the middle child of Jean Berneger and Isidore Siskin. He graduated from Los Angeles High School and later went to UCLA, getting his Master's degree there in Anthropology. Burt married his first wife, Barbara on January 12, 1957. They had two children together: David and Michael. Burt worked at his family's business, the Angelus Furniture Co. (established in 1901 by his grandfather) before teaching Anthropology for LA Valley College and LA Pierce College. He adored teaching. It was his reason for being. Burt was amazed that after almost fifty years of teaching, he could still have an impact on his students. He taught up until four years ago. Burt married his second wife, Susan on New Year's Eve, 1981. They had three children together: Sarah, Molly, and Jake. Burt was a marvelous storyteller, and his friends, family, and students were the beneficiaries of his wisdom and humor. He loved history and was obsessed with World War ll. He enjoyed reading, walks, biking, music, travel, and volleyball. Burt was an avid college sports fan; he especially loved UCLA basketball, football, and track and field. He died a beloved and happy man. He is survived by his wife, Susan and his five children, his grandchildren, Hannah and Max, and his sister, Susie. He will be especially missed by his dearest friend of sixty-seven years, Dr. Randy Parker. Memorial service will be held at Emerson Church in Canoga Park on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
