October 27, 1924 - September 24, 2017 Byron D. Lane died September 24, 2017 at home in Long Beach, CA, a month shy of his 93rd birthday. Born in Chicago in 1924, Byron earned an MBA in management and a Ph.D. in organizational psychology. He had multiple careers that included entrepreneur, CEO of a national company, professor of management and writer. His books include "How to Free Yourself in a Business of Your Own"; "Managing People"; his WWII memoir "Byron's War"; and "The Widow's Guide to Life" (co-authored with his late wife, Ida Fisher-Lane). He is survived by his stepdaughter, Lauren Okayama (Keisho) of Los Angeles; son Steven Lane of New York City; daughters Janet Shabanov of Chicago, and Judy Lane of Long Beach; sister Joan Silvern of Evanston, as well as nieces, nephews, a granddaughter, great-grandson -- and his companion Marlene Sadan of Venice, CA. Byron requested no funeral service. Donations may be made to the charitable organization of your choice.
