Carl C. Gregory Obituary
December 28, 1918 - January 29, 2018 Carl C. Gregory died in Indian Wells, CA, after a short illness. Carl typified the "Greatest Generation." Born at the end of World War I into a family of modest means, he grew up during the Depression, put himself through SMU, earning a business degree, and then served as a pilot in World War II. After the war, he settled with his bride, Barbara Troster, in Dallas, Texas, where he pursued a career in banking. In 1963, he moved his family to Los Angeles, where he continued his banking career before pursuing his passion for real estate. Beginning in the late sixties, he successfully pioneered the effort to get pension funds to invest in real estate. Carl overcame his natural shyness and became eager to meet new people and welcome them into his circle of friends. His warm and trusting personality along with his keen insight, wisdom and common sense led him to positions of leadership in all of his endeavors. An avid golfer, he played almost until the end of his life when he reluctantly gave it up knowing he would miss most the camaraderie of his many friendships. He was predeceased 15 years ago by his wife of 62 years, Barbara. He is survived by his three children, Carl, Kirk and Martha (Haven), five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
