Carolbeth Goldman Korn Obituary
June 30, 1937 - January 14, 2017 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law passed away on January 14, 2017. She is survived by her loving husband, The Honorable Lester B. Korn of nearly 56 years, her daughter Jodi, granddaughter Sloane and son-in-law, Rob. Carolbeth's youngest daughter, Dr. Jessica Susan Korn passed away on February 3, 2010. Carolbeth's greatest achievements were standing by her adored husband, helping him as his life partner in leading and loving their children and granddaughter through their lives, her Bachelor's Degree from UCLA's School of Public Health, giving back to her community through multiple generous donations, including a multi-million dollar gift with Lester to the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Carolbeth proudly served on many boards. At UCLA, she was on the Board of Directors of Women and Philanthropy; she was a member of the UCLA Foundation Governors. She supported the Rhonda Fleming Mann Resource Center for Women With Cancer and the Sue K. Young Scholarship Fund. She loved the Music Center and was a member of its board of directors and was a member of the executive committee. She was the chairman of the Founders Advisory Committee, and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Founders League of the Music Center. She was a Blue Ribbon member for more than 30 years with the Children's festival her favorite and in 1994 she was delighted to be the Blue Ribbon Chair for the festival¿ She was also a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Board of Overseers. She served on the President's Cabinet of the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace Foundation and was a member of the Chairman's Club of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. She will also be remembered as a founding member of the Los Angeles Library Foundation Council. In 1990, Carolbeth received the Neil H. Jacoby Award from the UCLA International Student Center and in 2007 she received the Dean's Award from the School of Public Health. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to with notice to the family so they can express their appreciation. Services will be held on Thursday, 1-19-17 at 2pm.
