Carole Little Obituary
September 27, 1934 - September 19, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family of Carole Little informs that she passed away peacefully on September 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Mary Lenski, and her younger brother Walt. She resided in Los Angeles and was a fashion designer for almost 40 years. Her clothing was recognized for her signature mixed prints and California chic sportswear. Little founded "St. Tropez West" in 1974 with business partner, Leonard Rabinowitz, when they realized there was an untapped niche in the market between designer labels and moderate apparel. She provided women with an easy chic uniform of silk shirts and trousers. Customers began to recognize the Carole Little brand after "PEOPLE" magazine featured model Lauren Hutton on the cover wearing one of Little's silk blouses. Her legacy will live on at the Parson's School of Design in New York with the Carole Little scholarship. Besides Rabinowitz, she is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to "Saint Madeleine Sophie Center", (stmsc.org), or to "The Accelerated School in Los Angeles". She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Burial will be private at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park.
