Charles Benoit McPhee Obituary
After 90 years, Charles Benoit McPhee left his earthly home on May 11, 2015. Leaving a legacy of love, laughter, compassion, courage and strength, his life was enriched by faith, family and friends. Chuck died peacefully. He was preceded in death in 2011, by Marcia, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his son Charlie McPhee, his daughter Lorrie M. Ross, his daughter-in-law, Tina McPhee and his grandchildren Kate Keating (and her husband Joe), Will McPhee and Brandon Ross Hafetz. He will be missed by extended family and many friends including those at Belmont Village in Palos Verdes. Chuck was born on August 1, 1924, in Twin Falls, Idaho. After moving to Los Angeles he graduated from Loyola High School in 1942. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served our country in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his military discharge he continued his education attending Loyola University and receiving his BS degree from Santa Clara University in 1950. His professional career was spent in the food service industry as restauranteur and later consultant. As owners of the popular Donkin's Inn in Marina del Rey, he and his wife distinguished themselves in their community for innovation and service excellence. Over the years, Chuck pursued varied interests including golf, marlin fishing, local and international travel, reading and going to the movies. To celebrate his life, there will be a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Chapel of Loyola High School, 1901 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles. A gathering will follow directly at Tom Bergin's, 840 S. Fairfax. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Homeboy Industries in care of Fr.
