Charles Merrick Madary Obituary
August 16, 1929 - December 20, 2017 Charles Merrick Madary, Jr., was born August 16, 2017, in Los Angeles, CA, where he lived for most of his 88 years. He attended UES, Emerson Junior High School, University High School, and Santa Clara University, then graduated from Claremont Men's College in 1955 with a degree in economics. The day after he graduated from CMC, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he worked in the finance department at Fort Carson, Colorado. Chuck always took great pride in his country. He married Margaret Noble in 1959 and later married Kathleen Anton Peyton. After retiring as a manager at McDonald Douglas Corporation, he entered the residential real estate field, a career where his kindness and caring were always visible. Chuck loved music, always singing and playing his ukulele or four-string banjo. His music collection was to be envied. He sang with the Santa Monica Oceanaires, a barbershop chorus, and was the lead singer in a quartet. He was an avid runner, competing in numerous marathons, and later enjoyed hiking and trailblazing in the Santa Monica Mountains. Always smiling and optimistic, Chuck was loyal to his two kitties and to his family and friends, many of whom he had known since elementary school days. Chuck passed away on December 20, 2017. He is survived by his son Charles Merrick Madary III, his sisters Susan Madary Carver and Betsy Madary Sutton, and his three nieces, Leslie Carver Haight, Linda Carver Gallucci, and Sara Sutton.
