Charles R. CAMPBELL Obituary
June 1927 - March 2016 On March 20, 2016, Charles R. Campbell of San Marino, California, passed peacefully at home. Chuck was born in June 1927 in Lowell, Massachusetts. He grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts, the youngest of 6 children. After graduating high school, he immediately began serving in the Army until he was honorably discharged with multiple decorations and citations. After leaving the Army, Chuck moved to California, where he met his wife, Eugenie, through close friends. They fell in love and were married in December 1950, in the first wedding mass to take place at St. Therese Church in Alhambra. Chuck enjoyed a successful career of over 4 decades as Manager of Computer Operations and Information Systems at the Southern California Gas Company. Chuck took pride in working hard, starting out as a gas meter reader, and ultimately retiring as the manager of 3 offices and managing over 500 employees. Chuck truly valued the friends he made over the years, just as they deeply respected and appreciated his friendship, wisdom, fairness, and sense of humor. Chuck was a devoted husband and beloved father. His interest in and knowledge of the world and current events never flagged. He was proud of his Scottish heritage, enjoyed books and foreign mystery films, and had a passion for Keeshonds and Keeshond rescue. His humble yet determined nature, keen intellect, and razor-sharp wit were appreciated and admired by everyone who knew him. He was the very definition of unconditional love, and brought valuable insight as well as humor into every situation, including difficult challenges. His loss leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his family, yet their hearts are filled with unending love and gratitude for having been blessed with him as an extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather. Chuck is survived by his wife, Eugenie; children Mary Kathryn (Chris) Genzlinger of Chico, Calif.; Chuck Campbell, Jr., of Corte Madera, Calif.; Anne-Marie Campbell of Eagle Rock, Calif.; Jane (David) Campbell Pierce of Altadena, Calif.; granddaughter Sarah Genzlinger; and grandsons Charles R. Campbell III and Kyle Campbell. A memorial service will be held April 2 at Cabot & Sons Mortuary in Pasadena, with private interment. Throughout his entire life, Chuck generously and unconditionally gave of himself to those he loved. In lieu of flowers or donations, it would honor Chuck to do something for your loved ones, or donate to a in his name.
