Charles V. Adams Obituary
December 18, 1937 - July 2, 2015 Charles (Chuck) Vincent Adams passed on July 2, 2015 at the Ventura Convalescent Hospital, Ventura, California. He was born in San Francisco, California on December 18, 1937, was a third generation Californian, and was a resident of Ventura since 2005. He attended schools in California, graduated from Puente Union High School in 1956, received his B.S. Degree with honors at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and his Masters Degree from Claremont Graduate School in February, 1972, majoring in mathematics. From September 1962 to June 1963, he was a Junior Instructor, Mathematics, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, part-time. Charles was a mathematics teacher at Nogales High School, Rowland Unified School District, Rowland Heights, California from September 1963 to his retirement in 1997. He taught all levels of high school mathematics, basic mathematics to A.P. Calculus. He initiated the A.P. Calculus class at Nogales, participated in the development of the Nogales High Computer Lab and served as system manager of the H.P./3000 system. He taught computer literacy classes to colleagues and coordinated computer assisted instruction. He participated in numerous mathematics curriculum revision committees for the Rowland Unified School District. From September 1970 to 1989, he was the Mathematics Department Chairman. He was a member of the Rowland Unified School District Mathematics Curriculum Committee, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, California Mathematics Council, California Teachers Association, and Computer Using Educators. He was "Teacher of the Year" for Nogales High School, 1978. Chuck was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 10302, Rowland Heights, California. Prior to moving to Ventura, he was active member at St. Elizabeth Seton's Catholic Church, Rowland Heights, California. He was a volunteer reader and did recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic in Upland, California. He is survived by relatives in California, Oregon, Washington, and Ohio. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11am July 14, 2015 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Roman Catholic Church, 1835 Larkvane Rd., Rowland Heights followed by interment in Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Fullerton Road, Rowland Heights.
