Charles Vallée Moran Obituary
Charles Vallée Moran, 97, passed away at his home in San Marino, CA on Aug. 27, 2015. Born in Detroit, MI at Harper Hospital to J. Bell and Serena M. Moran, the Moran family roots in Detroit can be traced back to 1701. Married to Lorene Grove Moran for 74 years, Charles and Lorene had four sons: Charles Vallée Jr. and wife Barbara; George Grove; Michael Bell and wife Eloise; and John Hayward, who passed away in 1989; and two grandsons, Jonah and Reid. Charles was the oldest of four children. His three siblings: William Hayward; Serena Moran Schmidt; and John Bell Jr. proceeded him in death. Growing up in Detroit, Charley was fascinated with the automobile. His maternal grandfather, William Hayward Murphy, helped start the Cadillac and Lincoln Motor Companies. After attending the University of Virginia, Charley spent six years in Scotia, CA, working in the family's Pacific Lumber Company, where he met and married Lorene and where his two older children were born. In 1945 he moved to Southern California, where he and his father started Moran Motors, a Chrysler Plymouth franchise, in the town of El Monte. He remained in the automobile business for 61 years. Services were held at Saints Felicitas and Perpetua Church in San Marino at 11 am Wednesday, September 2, 2015. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A., the Huntington Memorial Hospital or The . Cabot & Sons, Pasadena
