Charlotte Frick Dale Obituary
June 14, 1924 - June 7, 2017 Charlotte Dale was born in Duluth, MN, June 14, 1924, the daughter of Margaret (née Knox) and Duncan Wilson Frick. The family relocated to Beverly Hills in the early 1930s. Charlotte was a graduate of Marlborough School (1942) and UCLA (1946) where she was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She worked for the William Morris Agency and was the personal assistant to the actor Forrest Tucker. Charlotte was active in the Junior League of Los Angeles. On December 22, 1948 in Beverly Hills, Charlotte married Allen Dale, the founder of the legendary Villa Nova restaurant. In 1967, they moved with their six children to Newport Beach and relocated the Villa Nova there as well. Allen died in 1971 and Charlotte assumed management of the Villa Nova until 1993. Charlotte passed away in Costa Mesa, CA, on June 7, 2017, due to heart failure. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 29, at St. James Anglican Church, 2995-A Airway Ave., Costa Mesa, CA, at 10:30 a.m. She is survived by her six children: James Dale (Cheryl) Tustin Ranch, CA; Thomas Dale, Santa Ana; Margaret Dale, Weaverville, CA; Laura Dale, Newport Beach, CA; Sandy Azain (Jeff) Santa Barbara, CA; and Charles DiLisio, Australia. Also, by grandchildren, Christopher Dale, Heather Ellis, Alexander Dale, Ryan Dale, Allison O'Connor (Alain) Erin Azain, one great-grandson, Danny Ellis and many nieces and nephews, including Frank Frick and Charlotte (Frick) Danielson.
