Charlotte King Myers Obituary
May 29, 1922 - November 11, 2017 The Orange County creative arts community is saddened by the passing of Charlotte King Myers on November 11, 2017. A lifelong artist, she was well known for her work in watercolor, oils, intaglio, papermaking, collage, and digital printmaking. Her art illuminated issues of human behavior and concern, using surrealism and ambiguity to illustrate the complexities of human existence. Born in Seattle in 1922, Charlotte grew up in San Francisco and South Pasadena. She attended Occidental College and the University of California, Berkeley, where she met her future husband, Edward A Myers, Jr. (1923-1991). Charlotte was an accomplished pianist who loved music, gardening and travel. Locales rich in cultural heritage including Guatemala, Bali and Turkey, exerted powerful influences on her art. A regular exhibitor and judge at the Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach, she was featured at many galleries throughout her career. She studied, produced, and taught art in a variety of settings well into her eighties. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother who practiced friendship and hospitality, supported and encouraged creativity and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. A memorial will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Covington, 3 Pursuit, Aliso Viejo, California. Contributions may be made to www.bcm-net.org.
