1922 - 2016 Long time resident of Palm Desert and Pasadena passed away on March 25, 2016, at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. Chase was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Chase Wickersham and Katherine Koch Wickersham. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School, Stanford University and Boston University Business School. During WWII he served in the 15th Army Air Corps in Italy as a First Lieutenant and B-17 bomber pilot as Group and Squadron lead where he received the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Silver Star for bravery. For fifty years, he was an insurance broker (CPCU) in the Los Angeles area with his own company and other associations. He was a member of the California Club, Annandale Golf Club, Squires Club, Marrakesh County Club and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Pauline Lancaster Smith of Menlo Park, his three sons, Chase III (Grace,) John (Carol,) and Paul (Patti) with seven grand children and three great grand children, his sister, Florence (Wicki) McDonald (Mrs. Lloyd McDonald) and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. At his request, gifts may be made to the Salvation Army, Red Shield Youth Center, on 11st St. in Los Angeles (213-381-3747.)
