Obituary Condolences Gallery

Chic Lippman was born August 6, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey to Sol and Betty Steinberg. She was raised in Rockville Centre, New York and attended Southside High School. As a teenager in Long Island, she volunteered at the Muscular Dystrophy center taking care of children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This experience greatly impacted her and stayed with her throughout her life. She attended American University and graduated with a degree in teaching. She was proud to be a part of American University's 1963 graduating class in which President John Kennedy delivered his famous Test Ban Treaty speech. In 1969, Chic moved to California. While raising her three children, she continued to teach, and later ran for the Santa Monica School Board. She also started her own educational consulting business called SchoolFinders. She was honored to have worked with Happy Hairston during her many educational ventures as they both shared a passion for children. While teaching was her true calling, Chic was also honored to work with her children at their family businesses: first TD Materials, and later MetalMart International. She was a true people person, and made an incredible impression on everyone she met. She had a gift for remembering names and loved to learn someone's story. She was an avid reader and news junkie. She loved to travel. Most of all she loved her three children and five grandchildren who will miss her greatly. She is survived by her sons Bill (Orit), Andrew (Tally) and daughter Tamara (Robert) and grandchildren Rachel, Michael, Emily, Danielle, and Sophia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to at www.mda.org. Funeral services will be held Sunday 12 noon at Hillside Memorial Park, Malinow and Silverman Mortuary (800)710-7100.
