September 4, 1948 - November 3, 2017 Prominent, retired attorney, Clifford Wiley Roberts, Jr., passed away after a long illness on November 3, 2017 at the age of 69 years. Born on September 4, 1948, in Los Angeles, Cliff graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Western State University, College of Law, Fullerton, and began his law practice in 1978. Shortly thereafter, he founded the law firm of Roberts and Associates where he practiced until his retirement in 2010. During these thirty-two years, he tried more than 100 jury trials, bench cases and complex arbitrations, resulting in numerous verdicts of many millions of dollars. Cliff was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He served as a Judge Pro Tem and maintained a peer review rating of AV. Cliff also appeared internationally at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lucerne, Switzerland. Cliff was a Christ-follower and a member of Rock Harbor Church, Costa Mesa. He completed and participated as a volunteer in the Alpha Program at both Rock Harbor and at Holy Trinity Brompton in London. He was a member and keynote speaker at Daniel's Inn, a Christian organization of judges and attorneys in Orange County. A highly knowledgeable student of Scripture, Cliff's life and values greatly reflected his knowledge. He loved and gave of himself to many in need. Cliff and family and friends traveled to Malawi with 250 wheelchairs, produced by the Free Wheelchair Mission, which were given to individuals who could not otherwise afford them. He also contributed generously to Acres of Love, a nonprofit involved in providing for orphans in South Africa, raising them from infancy through college. Cliff was a member of the Barnabas Group which has benefited thousands of nonprofits all around the world. A charter graduate of the Master's Program, Cliff truly lived the compelling life strategy of this organization which is to move from success to significance in life. Cliff was a world traveler having visited 131 countries, often with his family. He meticulously planned and took his family on African safaris, trips to Machu Picchu, the Gal√°pagos Islands, Costa Rica, Vietnam and Cambodia and throughout Europe. He and his wife, Jill, sailed six times with World Campus Afloat/Semester at Sea. They met on such a voyage in 1968. s an exceptional athlete throughout his life. He was an ocean swimmer, a surfer, triathlete and almost a scratch golfer. He played golf on five continents and had two holes in one. Cliff was predeceased by his father, Clifford Wiley Roberts and a brother, Curt Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jill, sons, Cliffy III (Kerry) and John (Michelle), daughter, Caity (Ethan), four grandchildren, Clifford IV, Charlie, Cooper and Wylder, his mother, Patricia Roberts, his siblings, Judy Smyser (Rick), Kevin Roberts (Noelle) and Mimi Anzaldo (Pete), along with beloved nieces and nephews. A true family man, Cliff is loved eternally and missed greatly. Irreplaceable to all his family, Cliff is forever in our hearts and minds as simply the best. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 8 at Rock Harbor Church, 345 Fischer Avenue, Costa Mesa, California.
