Daisy Press Nemzer Obituary
September 12, 2015 age 98, in Costa Mesa, CA. She is survived by her children Sidney (Susan), Ken (Marilyn), Dan (Elaine z"l, Ani), and Eileen, nine grandchildren (and spouses), three great grandchildren, sister-in-law Thelma Press (Lou z"l) and numerous nieces and nephews. Daisy was born in Bay Minette, Alabama. She grew up in Pasadena, California, where her family helped to found the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center. She and her brothers attended UCLA in its first years. For most of her life her home was in Worthington, Ohio. Daisy was a leader in educational and cultural organizations, including serving as president of the Ohio State University Women's Club. Daisy helped found the Worthington Democratic Club. For many years, Daisy and her late husband Prof. Louis Nemzer were part of a dynamic team that presented the Columbus International Festival. In 1976 Daisy received the Columbus Mayor's Award for Voluntary Service. Daisy lived life with delight. Singing, acting, volunteering and especially being with her family were her greatest pleasures. A memorial will be held at Mt. Sinai Hollywood Hills Cemetery, Thursday, September 17 at 12:30. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel (handinhandk12.org).
