Dana Berry Nichols Obituary
October 23, 1944 - November 6, 2016 On November 6, 2016, Dana Berry Nichols went home to heaven and straight into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Knowing her time was short she told her pastor "I've been waiting for this all of my life." She left behind a grieving family who adored her. She is survived by Jim Nichols, her husband of fifty years, son Brandon Nichols, daughters Amy and Lori Nichols, grandsons Alexander and Travis Nichols and granddaughter Isabel Louise Jelletich. She is also survived by her brothers Bruce Berry of Dallas Texas, and Glen and Duke Berry of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Dana died at home surrounded by her children. Cancer took her. She was 72 years old. Dana was born in Corpus Christi, Texas October 23, 1944, to Paul Jefferson Berry and Roy Dessie Berry. She grew up in Kenedy, Texas and graduated from Kenedy High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Abilene Christian University and taught school for three years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She met and married Jim in college shortly before moving to Los Angeles where Jim went to law school and practiced with the law firm Bonne Bridges Mueller Okeefe and Nichols for over three decades. Dana was very proud of her college educated children. Brandon a lawyer, Amy a CBS employee and Lori a registered nurse. Dana cherished her grandchildren and was active in their lives from the time they were born. Besides managing the household and taking care of Jim ('a full time job' she repeatedly claimed) she ran the family ranch and was active in her church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Valley Orthopedic Clinic a nonprofit clinic which provides free orthopedic care to children in Calexico, California.
