Daniel Thomas Muñoz Obituary
February 20, 1949 - July 12, 2017 Danny was one of Los Angeles's true native sons. By day for 32 years Danny served as a waiter at Ed's Coffee Shop in West Hollywood. On his recent retirement, he was honored with a party attended by the many customers he befriended. By night, with the support of David Hiovich, his loving husband and partner of 37 years, Danny was a scholar and champion of Los Angeles history. Together they collected an eight thousand volume library focused on Southern California. The library is housed in their Victorian home located in Angelino Heights. Danny was a passionate believer in the civic groups that preserve LA's cultural and architectural history. Danny was a past President of the Los Angeles City Historical Society and the President of the Associated Historical Societies of Los Angeles County. Most of all, Danny was a source of great love for his devoted husband, family, friends, and the city he grew up in. Those who knew him feel blessed. He is survived by husband David Hiovich, mother Lucy Muñoz, brother Arthur Muñoz and his nephews.
