Darryl Pat Slavens Obituary
April 22, 1936 - December 19, 2017 Loving husband, father and grandfather, Dr. Pat Slavens of Playa Del Rey, CA, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017 after an extended illness. Pat was a generous and kind soul who was passionate about his family, dentistry and magic. He operated a dental practice in Torrance, CA, for over 40 years, and he was also an avid magician and early member of The Magic Castle Hollywood. Pat was born on April 22, 1936 to Artemis and Thelma (Roundtree) Slavens in Los Angeles and attended George Washington High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Naval Base San Diego. Following undergraduate work at El Camino College in Torrance, Dr. Slavens completed dental school at the USC School of Dentistry, graduating first in his class. In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his brother Robert Slavens. He is survived by his wife Kane Dossett Slavens, his children Laura Esposito (Richard), Pamela Keene (Kevin) and Darla Pacheco (Allen), his grandchildren Gianna Esposito, Trevor Keene and Ryan Keene, and his sister Carolyn Nevara.
