David Lyndon Clegg Obituary
July 5, 1962 - November 16, 2017 David Lyndon Clegg, 55 years old, of Altadena, CA, died in Pasadena, CA, on November 16, 2017 in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Norwich, CT, to Christine Sherman Haight and William Arthur Clegg, and lived most of his youth in South Windsor, CT, where he graduated from South Windsor HS in 1980. Dave attended Pomona College, where he graduated with a BA in Mathematics in 1984, and met his wife, Amy. They were married on September 30, 1989. Dave worked as a software engineer throughout his life, first with Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo CA, then with the commodity futures trading firm Advanced Algorithms, in Boston, MA. For the last 27 years, he worked for Sybase and SAP, where he developed numerous patents and specialized in mobile security. Dave loved building things - not just software - including furniture, gardens, and friendships. He loved being outdoors, whether running with his dogs, camping and hiking, or playing tennis. And he loved to travel with his wife and close friends. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, several of which were rescue animals. Dave will be remembered for his big blue eyes, his boundless energy, his mischievous "cheesecake" smile, and his incisive, creative mind. But most of all we will miss his caring and empathetic soul. Dave is survived by his wife, Amy Lyford, of Altadena, CA; his sisters: Karen Mills of Coventry, CT, and Ellen Clegg of Northampton, MA; his uncle, Gary Haight of Rocklin, CA; his nieces and nephew: Sarah and Garrett Mills, Lucia Russek-Clegg, and Eve and Willa Lyford; and many cousins. Gifts in Dave's memory may be made to one of several greyhound rescue organizations: Fast Friends in LA (http://www.fastfriends.org/) or Greyhound Friends for Life in the SF Bay Area (http://www.greyhoundfriendsforlife.org/) or to the .
