Deborah (Ashe) Warheit Obituary
January 18, 1941 - January 17, 2018 Debbie died peacefully watching TV in her West L.A. apartment at almost 77. She is survived by 2 daughters: Linda Cheung of Seattle and Evelyn Blackford of El Cerrito, CA, as well as 4 grandchildren. She was divorced in 1985, after 21 years of marriage. Debbie, a lifelong Dodger fan, was born in 1941 to David & Lillian (Hurwitz) Ashe of Brooklyn, NY. She earned a B.A. from Syracuse in 1962 and an M.Ed. from N.Y.U. in 1963, and was a primary teacher in NYC. Moving to San Francisco in 1970, then West L.A. in 1973, Debbie raised her daughters while sharing her passion for literature as a school aide and a bookseller. A memorial gathering isn't planned. To share your photos & memories of Debbie, please mail to Linda Cheung, P.O. Box 18594, Seattle, WA, 98118, or contact either daughter online. A fitting tribute to Debbie would be donating a children's book to a local library or charity in her memory.
