May 24, 1949 - April 25, 2016 Diane Marie Cox (Spann) AKA "grally, shorty and granny" was born on May 24, 1949 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of the late Venita Tarver (Andrew) and the late Anthony Marlon Spann. Diana was born early and was a preemie at only two pounds. Diane changed her first name to Diana sometime in her twenties. Diana was the oldest girl and the third oldest out of seven children. She played an active role as a big sister to her younger siblings and a younger sister to her older brothers, including fighting with her sisters over toys and dressed. Diana was an active member in dance, the arts, and education while she attended Manual Arts High School. Diana graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1967. After graduation, Diana had several part time jobs and her first full time job was with the Department of Social Services. Diana moved on with her career and worked over 15 years with Santa Monica College in Human Resources. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert T. Cox; children Robert T. Cox, Jr. (Melody) and Brandee Cox (Jonathan); three step-children, Wendy Cox-Bouler, Felicia Cox and Jayda Craig; brother Maurice (Anna); sisters Pamela and Lonita; grandchildren, Heaven, Blessed, Corinthia, Carresha, Jacques, Jade, Jolani, and Jalaya. Fiana is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends. Diana was preceded in death by her mother, Venita Andrew, father, Anthony Spann, brothers Marcus and James (Boopie) and sister, Lowella (Susaye)
