Donald David "Donnie" Mittelman Obituary
June 6, 1948 - June 9, 2017 PHOENIX, AZ - From birth, Donnie was big, happy, and so very handsome, bright and gregarious. Donnie grew up in West L.A. and Encino, the son of Joseph and Sally Mittelman. People were drawn to Donnie because he was so outgoing. He delighted in walking up to total strangers and talking to them as if they were old friends. He loved people and was an avid reader of history and current events. At age 21, Donnie entered his father Joe's manufacturers representative automotive aftermarket business and became an instant success. Donnie became a partner with Joe, and spent 21 years making his mark in the sales business and was known throughout the industry as a great and truthful salesman. Donnie married the love of his life, Patti Lauderback in 1980. They moved to Phoenix and there began to live a full and happy life, surrounded by new social and business friends. Patti was already a flight attendant, and to this day, her bright smiling face and caring service makes her a treasure of American Airlines. Donald eventually started a water purification business in Cabo San Lucas, and starting from nothing, built it into a thriving concern. Sadly, Donnie passed away peacefully Friday, June 9, at age 69. Donnie left behind his wife Patti, his father Joseph and stepmother Judy, and his two brothers Ronald Mittelman from Simi Valley and John Mittelman from Temecula. Donnie left a mark on everyone he came in contact with and will always be remembered as a brilliant, thoughtful, kind, creative, funny, and outgoing man, a loving husband, beloved son, respected brother, and trusted friend to all he met.
