October 31, 1922 - May 26, 2015 Stuetz, Donald E. generous father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed peacefully in San Ramon, California on Tuesday, May 26th at age 92. Born on October 31, 1922 to Raymond and Gertrude Stuetz, Don was raised in Los Angeles. Twice weekly Don participated in gymnastics at the German Turnverein and was active in Boy Scouts of America where he advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Dorsey and Los Angeles high schools where he participated in plays, school government, orchestra and ballroom dancing. In 1942, Don was inducted into the US Army Air Corps where he served during WWII as an airplane armorer, last stationed on the Island of Tinian in the Pacific. Following the war, Don returned home where he earned a Bachelor's degree from USC. Don Stuetz married Irene Miller of Grove City, Minnesota on April 24, 1951 and was the father of two children. Don loved the grocery industry where he rose from store clerk to Vice President of Pricing and Procurement during his 35-year association with Vons Grocery Company. Don and Irene's dearest friends came from the grocery industry which formed the epicenter of their social and work lives. Following retirement in 1985, Don and Irene moved to the East Bay of Northern California and settled in Blackhawk. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to spend time in the outdoors with his dear friends. Don is survived by his daughter, Sherry Lynne and her husband, Thomas Cutting of Danville; son Raymond Kent and his wife Debbie Stuetz of Liverpool, New York; brother Walter Stuetz of Palm Springs; 9 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Graveside services at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 13th at Court of Liberty in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. Oak Park Hills Chapel, Walnut Creek is making arrangements.
