Donald Hahn Scott Obituary
October 17, 1930 - November 7, 2015 Donald H. Scott of Corona Del Mar passed away surrounded by his family. He was born in Pasadena and grew up in Pasadena and San Marino where he attended SMSP High School. Don graduated from Pomona College in 1952. During the Korean war, he served as an assistant engineer and supply officer on a minesweeper, the USS Ruddy, in North Korea. In 1954, he married Patsy Hanna. After completion of his service, he and Patsy settled in San Marino where he began his lifelong career as an insurance broker with Cedric Scott & Sons. Don was a members of the San Marino Community Church serving as a Deacon. He was a very active member of the San Marino community. He belonged to and served as president of the local Rotary and Pasadena Insurance Agents. He also served on the San Marino Planning Commission, the City Club, Red Cross and the Valley Club. He was the VP of the San Marino Tennis Foundation at its inception and in charge of the building of the facility. Don very much enjoyed spending time at Lake Arrowhead with family and friends. In 1993, Don and Patsy moved from the San Marino area to Balboa Island where they enjoyed happy years with their beloved children, grandchildren and lifelong friends. Don joined Balboa Yacht Club and returned to his childhood interest, sailing. He joined a senior sailing group sailing sabots which he enjoyed until he suffered a stroke in 2005. In spite of his health challenges, he maintained a positive attitude and outlook on life. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy, their three children, Jeff and his wife Jennifer, John and his wife Jody, and Linda Lippstreu and her husband, Jeff and their nine grandchildren. A private family memorial has been planned.
