Donald Morton Marcus Obituary
August 29, 1924 - May 5, 2016 Donald Morton Marcus, M.D., 91, of Encino, California, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2016 after a brief illness. Don is survived by Sylvia, his wife of nearly 67 years, daughters Andrea, Donna, and Leslie, sons-in-law Mike Bond and Richard Strauss; grandchildren Aaron Bond and Molly Strauss; plus many dear friends, patients, students, and colleagues. Don's passions were his family, his patients, and his students. He was a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center of California, and at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, where he was recently voted Faculty of the Year. He was the author of several articles and co-author of the book, "Taking Risks from the Unconscious: A psychoanalysis as experienced from both sides of the couch." Don was a truly extraordinary human being; a true individualist; thoughtful, wise, kind, honest, peaceful, gentle, introspective, and insightful. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, doctor and mentor. We will miss him deeply. Arrangements for a memorial celebrating Don's life are pending. Memorial donations may be made to Spirit Series at www.spiritseries.org or Opera Buffs www.operabuffs.org.
