Donna H. Solin Obituary
August 5, 1917 - September 4, 2015 Donna Helen Solin (née Cowl), died of heart failure at age 98. Born in Minneapolis, she moved with her parents to Los Angeles when she was 14. She was always proud of the fact that she already possessed a provisional license and drove much of the way. A graduate of Washington High School and attended LACC. She went on to obtain a degree from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1937 and was a member of the Sigma Chi Omega national fraternity. Donna met and married Philip Solin in 1940 just before he was drafted. They were together until his death in 2004. Always interested in working outside the home, Donna was a school bus driver for disabled children. In September 1962, she joined the Los Angeles County Department of Health, where she held the position of Registrar of Vital Records. She worked there happily until her retirement in 1988. Donna and Phil were active volunteers with the Jewish War Veterans. Donna served as secretary, editing the newsletter and assisting with events. She leaves behind a son, David (Lucila), a daughter, Nancy, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
