Donna L. Hahn Obituary
January 15, 1933 - November 25, 2016 Donna Louise (Sunkler) Hahn passed away early Friday morning, November 25th in Anaheim, CA. The cause of death was congestive heart failure. She was 83. Mrs. Hahn was a 44-year resident of Torrance, CA, prior to living the last year in Stanton, CA. She was the widow of former State Assemblyman and Los Angeles City Councilman Gordon Hahn, who passed away in 2001. She was the last surviving wife of the 7 Hahn brothers of Los Angeles, which include former LA County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn. She is the aunt of Janice Hahn, newly elected LA County Supervisor, and former LA City Mayor James Hahn. Donna spent 22 years as a music teacher, Vice Principal and Principal of Lockhaven Christian School in Inglewood, CA, before retiring in 1977. She came out of retirement in 1979 to teach 3 more years at Brethren High School in Paramount, CA. She was also the author of many published musical plays for children. She is survived by her younger sister Jeanette (Sunkler) Koekkoek, of Eugene, Oregon, her son David Hahn of Moreno Valley, CA, her daughter Debra (Hahn) Andrews of Los Alamitos, CA, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters, many nieces and nephews throughout California and Oregon, and many other longtime friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Cornerstone Church, 1000 N. Studebaker Rd., Long Beach, CA, at 11:00 AM. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hope International University's Music Department, and can be sent to Dr. Joe Grana, c/o: Hope International University, 2500 Nutwood Ave., Fullerton, CA 92831.
