Sister Doreen Crossett (Sister Elizabeth Miriam) On September 21, 2015 Sister Doreen peacefully went home to the arms of the God whom she faithfully followed as a professed Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 55 years. Sister Doreen was born in Sacramento, CA in 1928. Sister Doreen was an elementary educator at Saint Francis de Sales (Oakland), Saint Augustine (Oakland), Saint Theresa (Oakland), Saint Mary (Los Angeles), Good Shepherd (Santa Cruz), Sacred Heart (Oakland), Saint Anastasia (Los Angeles) and All Souls (Alhambra). For 8 years she worked diligently in the Purchasing Office at Holy Names University. For six years she was on the Saint Monica High School (Santa Monica) staff. Sister Doreen also volunteered at the Senior Health and Peer Counseling Center, at Holy Names High School in Oakland and Saint Augustine (Oakland). She is remembered for her commitment to quietly serving her God, her gentle, kind spirit and her smile. Sister Doreen loved ice cream, window shopping at Henshey's in Santa Monica and taking walks. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Carol) Crossett and other relatives. She will be remembered fondly by the Sisters of the Holy Names and SNJM Associates. Sister Doreen's Mass of Resurrection on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Holy Spirit Chapel, 65 W. Rincon Avenue, Campbell, California. Her burial will be at 10:15 am on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, California.
