Dorothy Morten (Dottie) Porter Obituary
Dottie Porter of Newport Beach, died peacefully listening to her beloved jazz, December 16, 2017 at 95. She was born in Pennsylvania and spent her childhood summers in Betterton, MD with her parents. Her family also resided in NYC while she was growing up. A veteran of WWII, Dottie enlisted and earned the rank of Sergeant in the Army Air Corp where she met her husband, Floyd L Porter of South Dakota, who she was married to for almost 53 years, Floyd loved golf and was a manager for J.C. Penneys, managing the store on Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa from 1965 to 1970. At retirement, the couple resided in Los Alamitos where they loved the neighborhood and their wonderful neighbors. Mr. Porter death preceeded Dottie's in 1996. In 2002, Dottie moved to Bayside Drive in Newport Beach to be close to her daughter, Kimberlee Porter Donath, son in law Mitchell G. Donath and mostly to be close to her beloved grandson Garret Porter Donath of Newport Beach. Dottie was her happiest living on the water, enjoying years of watching the Boat Parade and making wonderful lifelong friends there Along with her love of jazz and old movies, she loved spending time with her friends, drinking martinis buying lottery tickets, but mostly enjoying watching her grandson grow up into a young adult. She was a very free spirit, a loving and generous mother, wife, grandmother and friend, who lived a nonstop adventure for 95 years. Cheers Dottie, We Love You Madly, and will carry you in our hearts and prayers forever. A Jazz Celebration of Life for Friends of Dottie will be held by the family.
