Dorothy Taylor Chilkov Obituary
August 20, 1928 - April 22, 2016 Dorothy Chilkov passed away at home in Los Angeles on on April 22nd 2016, thirty-six days after the passing of her husband Sam. Dorothy was born in Pittsburg, 1928 to George and Francis Taylor. As a child, she moved to Phoenix where she attended Phoenix Union High School. She subsequently moved to Los Angeles where she worked in radio at KLAC and in television for Al Jarvis and Soupy Sales. Dorothy married Sam in 1951, and were wed just one month after they met. They travelled the world extensively and were deeply devoted to one another for the length of their 63-year marriage. Dorothy had a diverse career working in a range of fields that made great use of her superlative sense of style and knowledge of event planning and public relations. She held the positions of manager at the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, executive vice president for the Beverly Hills Board of Realtors, administrator of the Rodeo Drive Executive Committee, fashion consultant and executive for special events at JW Robinson's Department Stores and marketing director for East/West Network Inc. As an event planner and public relations consultant, Dorothy produced numerous fundraising events for the Israel Cancer Research Fund and tributes for George Burns, Danny Kaye, Kenny Rogers and Dinah Shore. Her talents were many and her natural creative abilities found expression in fashion, interior design, cooking painting and drawing. She was the consummate host, throwing numerous parties large and small. Dorothy was an exceptionally devoted mother and loyal friend. Her commitment to those she cared about was unparalleled. Dorothy leaves behind her daughter Nalini (Jill), son Paul, daughter-in-law Gwen Lotery, and adored grandsons Nick and Max.
