Duncan Erwin Shaw Obituary
Duncan Erwin Shaw, 85, died on July 10, 2015 in San Diego. Duncan was born on August 14, 1929 to Duncan and Margaret Shaw in Spokane, WA. Duncan's parents, his wife Sharon Viault Shaw, and his sister Joan Budinger predecease him. Raised in Los Angeles, Duncan graduated from Harvard School and USC, where he lettered on the golf team. He served as a Marine Corps aviation officer in the Korean War. Duncan worked as a marketing director at Carnation Co. for 38 years and was a Director of the LA-area Boy Scout Council and Community Chest. Duncan was the President, Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of Devil Pups Youth Program for America, touching the lives of 52,000 youth who attended the program he served for 62 years. Duncan enjoyed spending time with his family, who are grateful for his life lessons and the example of grace and determination he applied to all endeavors. Duncan leaves two daughters: Susan Hulbert (Doug) of San Diego, and Sharon Crull (Timm) of St. Helena; 5 grandchildren-Leah, Gabriel and Benjamin Hulbert and Tucker and Madeleine Crull; nephews Duncan (Mara) and Bud (Dede) Budinger, niece Barbara Antoncich (Steven), great-niece Brittanie (Marc) Howard and great-nephews Duncan and Chase Budinger. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, 2728 Sixth Avenue, San Diego on Monday, August 3 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Devil Pups, P.O.
