Edmund K. (Ted) Bennett Obituary
July 25, 1939 - September 27, 2017 Edmund (Ted) Kelsey Bennett III, age 78, passed away at his home in Northridge, CA, after a multi-year battle with ALS. Ted is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Kelsey, Scott, and Erin; and granddaughter Madison. Ted was a father, husband, teacher, anthropologist, historian, explorer, world traveler, train buff, map collector, and avid defender of nature. Born in Wadsworth, OH to Elizabeth Waters Bennett and Edmund Kelsey Bennett, Jr., Ted grew up in L.A. Ted served in the Army reserves and received a BA at UCLA and an MA at CSUN. He taught history and announced baseball/football games at Manual Arts and Chatsworth High Schools. Ted constantly looked for adventure; he rafted down the Grand Canyon, spent a Summer traveling around the entire world, toured Europe, and cruised the Yangtze River. He loved a good family road trip, a box of maps close at hand. Ted loved his family dearly and hoped for peace on Earth. He will be remembered for always rooting for the underdog and teaching compassion for his fellow man and animal. He will be missed by his family and friends, and we celebrate the long, impactful life he led: hip hip hooray! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to or the ALS Foundation.
