She was blessed with excellent care and companionship. Edna was preceded in death by her parents Aquilla Johnson and Walter Marmillion Jr.; grandparents, Omartine August and Walter Marmillion, Sr.; her husband of 51 years Coatie Jackson; brother Lloyd W. Marmillion, Sr.; sister-in-law Beatrice Hyde Marmillion; Aunts Geneva Marmillion (Leonard) Wilson and Ethel Marmillion (Henry) Hayes and stepmother Victoria Marmillion. She is survived by nieces and nephew of New Orleans, La.: Lorraine M. Joseph and her husband Donald Joseph, Sr.; Lloyd Marmillion, Jr. and his wife Janice Francis Marmillion; Brenda M. King and her husband Tyrone King and a host of great nieces and nephews; devoted cousin Elizabeth Randolph Cyrus, cousins and devoted neighbors, Caretakers/companions, Archelie and James Barber. "Nana" was reared in New Orleans, La. by her grandmother, Omartine Marmillion who she affectionately called Mama. She was educated at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist School. She lived her faith and was sustained by the teachings. Upon completion of her schooling her employment took her to Pasadena, California. There she met and married Coatie Jackson, a Longshoreman coincidentally from her home state of Louisiana. They had no children. They settled in Compton California. "Nana" was a homemaker. She had extraordinary talent in sewing, crocheting and gardening. She enjoyed traveling by any mode: air, sea or auto and car rides were her favorite. She also loved flowers. "Nana" told entertaining stories of growing up in New Orleans, La. In her declining health, her devoted cousin Elizabeth Randolph Cyrus stepped in to help with Edna's personal needs, health care, paying bills, bookkeeping, etc., for over 15 years of devoted care. Nana has gone home to meet her Heavenly Father on January 6, 2017. Though we will miss her physical presence, she remains with us in fond memories. Rejoice! She has received her mansion and her crown! Viewing Monday, January 23, 2017 3:00-8:00pm.
