Edward Jay Whetmore Obituary
April 24, 1946 - December 9, 2016 Edward Jay (Edd) Whetmore, Ph.D., a longtime Professor of Communications at Cal State Dominguez Hills and University of San Francisco, passed away peacefully this month at his home in Placerville, California. He was the author of many scholarly works including Mediamerica Mediaworld, From Script to Screen, The Magic Medium and American Electric. He also worked as a DJ, screenwriter, Acting Dean of Undergraduate Studies and occasional poker player. Edd was much influenced by the teaching of Zen Buddhism, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra and Ken Wilber and embraced "Integral Spirituality" - the idea that all views and religions that embrace peace and love hold merit. He is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth Ann (Annie) Whetmore and was much loved by his extended family, countless friends and thousands of students whose lives he influenced.
