June 8, 1929 - November 5, 2017 LA CANADA-FLINTRIDGE, CA Longtime Commercial General Contractor Edward M. Illig died peacefully Sunday, November 5th 2017 at his home. Born June 8, 1929 in Los Angeles to Katerina and Joseph Illig, he served his country in the United States Army before graduating from St. Mary's College in 1950. He then joined Illig Construction Company serving as President for over two decades. Living his Roman Catholic life, by example, he was active in his parish of St. Bede the Venerable, awarded the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice in 1995, the Cardinals Award in 2002 and served many Catholic organizations including Knights of Malta Free Clinic, Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose and Little Sisters of the Poor. Mr Illig was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Ann Illig, grandson Patrick Michael Liebelt and Son in Law Robert Randall (Randy) Bush. He is survived by his daughters Rita Liebelt (Klaus) of Glendale CA, Katherine Schneider (Charles) of Glendale, CA and Michaela Bush of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren Adam (Susan), Megan and Anna Liebelt, and John Schneider.
