Eleanor Jane Erickson Obituary
June 1, 1919 - December 1, 2015 June 1, 1919 - December 1, 2015 Eleanor Jane Erickson passed away December 1, 2015 at the age of 96. She was born June 1, 1919 in Warren, Ohio to Julius Buchholzer and Kathleen Shrew Buchholzer. From the time Eleanor was a child she wanted to dance. Instead, she was put on a piano bench and told to practice. Unable to keep her feet still, her mother finally, in desperation, took her to a dancing school. Eleanor never looked back! She studied throughout high school, taking as many as five lessons a week. She even began teaching tap dancing for her gym teacher and on playgrounds during the summers. When one of her dance teachers left town, she sold her studio to Eleanor and her sister. Two years later Eleanor bought her sister out and took sole ownership of the studio, now in her name. Eleanor spent summers in New York or Los Angeles studying with top dance teachers in the country. She spent three summers dancing with the Gae Foster Roxyettes. Eleanor married Charles Theodore "Chuck" Erickson on December 3, 1953 and moved to Los Angeles, where she volunteered by teaching for many years at the Girl's Club in Hollywood. She also choreographed eleven of her church's variety shows. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. She is survived by her son: Mark Erickson and stepchildren; Lynn, Lee and Wayne. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, LA on Saturday December 19 at 10 am.
