Elizabeth Caprio "Betsy" Hedberg Obituary
June 1, 1933 - March 25, 2016 Elizabeth "Betsy" Caprio Hedberg, passed away on March 25th 2016 at her home in Palms / Los Angeles, CA. Betsy was born June 1st 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur Bryan Whitworth and Jane Leslie Blair Whitworth. She was 82 at the time of her passing and survived by her loving husband Dr. Thomas M. Hedberg and her eight children, Sarah, Mark, Mary, Cecelia, Andrew, Lucy, Michael, Julia, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Betsy was a noted art therapist, author, spiritual director, public speaker and accomplished quilter. Betsy was also the co-founder of the Center for Sacred Psychology with her husband Thomas founded in 1983 in West Los Angeles. Betsy graduated with a Master's degree in Art Therapy in 1989 from Loyola Marymount University. She also received a Doctorate of Ministry in 1995 from the Graduate Theological Foundation of Indiana. Over the course of Betsy's life she epitomized both professionally and personally a sincere, compassionate caring interest for those she served by helping others realize their individual worth and calling to be of service to others. Highly influenced by the works of Carl Jung, the Hebrew, Christian and Interfaith scriptures, Betsy leaves a legacy of knowledge, caring, love and light. She will be forever with us and remembered for this legacy of kindness and compassion. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 30th at 12:15 pm - St. Timothy's Church 10425 West Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. A reception will follow immediately after the services at St. Timothy's Church hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to any of the following non-profit organizations: Alexandria House, 426 S.
