Elizabeth graduated from Marlborough School in Los Angeles and Finch College in New York City. She was known for her work with secondary education, serving as trustee for Marlborough School as well as the first female trustee of Thacher School in Ojai, where she was honored as a lifetime trustee. Under President Reagan, she was appointed to the National Museum Services Board and sworn into office by Sandra Day O'Connor. She was also appointed to serve on the National Council for Women's Education under the Reagan Administration. She is survived by her son and daughter from her marriage to Alphonzo Bell, a granddaughter, and a nephew.
