Elizabeth Jean Mason Obituary
January 11, 1949 - February 27, 2016 Dedicated mother of Lindsay, Loni, and Morgan, and loving grandmother to Ava, Will, Hanna, and Adam, Elizabeth Jean Mason ("Jeanie") passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Saturday, February 27, 2016. No matter what life threw her way, Jeanie always had a smile and a kind word for her friends, her loved ones, and even strangers. She possessed an unbridled generosity of spirit and caring nature that led many of her daughters' friends to consider Jeanie their mother as well. A lover of food, Jeanie frequently hosted dinner parties for which she insisted she cook everything whether the guest list was three or thirty people. She also ensured that her daughters and their friends knew about and ate at all of Los Angeles' iconic eateries. This enthusiasm for food extended to other cities, including New York, London, and Paris for which she had particular affection. While Jeanie was memorably stubborn, it was this dogged tenacity that enabled her to persevere through all of the challenges she faced during her life, always focussed first and foremost on the well-being and happiness of her children. A singularly brilliant mind, she was possessed of an unmatched facility with the subject of her work, and spent virtually her entire career as a friend to and advocate for songwriters whom she felt were the unsung heroes of the music industry. Jeanie's infectious laugh, loving disposition, and sharp wit will be sorely missed. Her friends and family will gather Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu Canyon to celebrate her memory.
