Elizabeth Nancy "Betty" Welch Obituary
November 28, 1930 - November 9, 2017 Elizabeth "Betty" Welch, Burbank resident for over 55 years, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 9, 2017, as she rested peacefully at home. Elizabeth, daughter of the late James and Violet Jones, was born in Glendale on November 28, 1930. She grew up in Hollywood and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1948. Elizabeth understood the importance of hard work and being self-sufficient. She had many clerical and administrative jobs during her life, including working for iconic post-production company Glen Glenn Sound. Before retiring, Elizabeth dedicated 24 years at Hollco Rohr, one of the nation's largest pipe and tobacco importers during the 1990s. Elizabeth cherished time spent with family, playing games and eating good food. She loved movies and was an excellent chess player! She was intelligent and wise, with an extensive vocabulary and a profound sense of numbers. She didn't like to "piddle" around foolishly and incompetent drivers irked her. Her homemade banana nut bread was unsurpassable! Elizabeth took such pride in maintaining her home. You could find her watering her front yard in the evenings as she connected with her neighbor, who was more like family. Elizabeth confronted cancer, in 1999, with amazing strength and bravery. After overcoming cancer, she became a regular at The Joslyn Adult Center in Burbank, where she enjoyed playing pool and socializing with new friends. Elizabeth, a true woman of God, studied the Bible and used it as a guide through life. She was a highly respected matriarch who will be loved deeply forever. The lessons she taught and the values she instilled in her family will continue to guide them until they reunite with her in God's Kingdom. Elizabeth didn't celebrate holidays, but she loved Thanksgiving! Her family feels fortunate for having her at the head of the table, leading the prayer, and blessed for having her as the head of their family. Elizabeth leaves behind her three children: son Craig Welch, daughter Darlene Swann, and son Donald Welch; her three granddaughters: Marlene Albertson, Kristine Albertson, and Michelle Swann; and her great-grandchildren: Angel, Jonny, Jaela, Kenny, Jaislyn, Jynx, Elizabeth, and Jax. Wisdom. Strength. Love. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
