April 29, 1919 - January 7, 2017 Ellen was born and always lived in the Los Angeles area. She graduated from Fairfax High and Sawyer College of Business. She married her husband, Floyd, in 1940 and after WWII moved to Lakewood, California where they lived ever since. They had been married for 63-years at the time of Floyd's death in 2003. Through the years, Ellen was active and enjoyed volleyball, bowling, golf, surf fishing, gambling trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin, and California Indian Casinos, and spending time at their vacation house in Balboa. Ellen and Floyd helped feed the homeless at St. Cyprian and Ellen loved to cook, always trying out new recipes. Her business training and entrepreneurial spirit served her well as a Notary Public and a Real Estate Agent. In 1958, Floyd and Ellen started a decal company in partnership with the artist, Don "Monté" Monteverde, and his wife, Doris. The book, "Monté: King of Atom-Age Monster Decals!" chronicles the story of their company. An avid bridge player, Ellen achieved Life Master and Golden Age Master, and was a founding member and Duplicate Bridge Director of the Lakewood Senior Citizens' Bridge Club for over 30 years. Ellen passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was 97 and is survived by her Brother, Fred; her only Son, Dennis; her Granddaughters, Cherine and Monique; her Great-Grandson, Parker and Great-Granddaughter, Karissa. She was buried at the Riverside National Cemetery next to her husband, Floyd, a Veteran of WWII.
