Emil "Chub" Dattola Obituary
December 27, 1932 - May 26, 2017 Emil Martin Dattola, best known to his family and friends as "Chub" passed away May 26, 2017 at the age of 84. He was born December 27, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA but as a young boy migrated west with his family to Southern California, northeast of Los Angeles amongst the walnut groves of Temple City. As a young man, Chub left his mark in the San Gabriel Valley with his passion for sports, especially in football. He played fullback for the 1953's Junior College National Championship Pasadena City College Bulldogs, completed his playing years at the College of Pacific and went on to a successful career in sales management. Chub was as tough as they come on the field and just as generous and friendly off of it. As a sales manager he was engaging, hard-working and persistent, having won many awards in new product sales. Chub was also a well-liked regular at local fitness clubs and maintained excellent physical health until his last years. Chub is recognized for his loving devotion as a father during an era when single parent Dads were a rare occurrence. He prided himself in never missing his sons sporting events as boys and was steadfast in his commitment to their development as men. Chub is survived by his son's Marty , Michael , and David , his seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two brothers Al and John. Family and friends will be gathering at 11:00am, Friday June 16 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple City for a Celebration of Life service.
