May 3, 1936 - October 5, 2015 Emilio Arechaederra, 79, passed away on October 5th following a 9-month fight with Cancer. He is survived by his wife Maria and their children Maria, Emilio Jr., Cristina and Gabriel, his sister Maria and his 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Alison, Matthew, Veronica, Jacqueline, Michael, Emilio, Gabriel, Max, Ewan and Isabella. Emilio was born in Havana, Cuba, the son of Carmen and Emilio Arechaederra. He received a B.A. in Architecture from Villanova University. After the Cuban Revolution, Emilio fled to Spain and arrived in the U.S. in 1960. His architectural career spanned more than 41 years as he worked as an architect at John Carl Warnecke and Associates, overseeing many projects including the John F. Kennedy Memorial. In 1981 he formed AHT Architects, Inc., a L.A-based architectural and planning design where he served as President and Chairman of the Board. Some his work includes the Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills, Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills, the Ventura County Government Center, the Kun Lun Hotel in Beijing, Royal Sands in Cancun, and the La Graciosa Island Master Plan on the Canary Islands. Emilio was a resident of Pacific Palisades for 40 years and was an active member of his community, and was particularly generous with St. John's Hospital and Corpus Christi Church. Services will be held on October 21st at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 880 Toyopa Drive, Pacific Palisades, CA.
