Enrique "Henry" Silva Obituary
August 1, 1921 - May 14, 2016 Enrique "Henry" Silva passed away at home on May 14th, 2016. Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, he arrived in the United States in 1944. After working at various jobs that took him as far away as Alaska, he decided to settle in Los Angeles, where he found work at the Jonathan Club, a prestigious private club. Always a man who loved and took pride in his work, Henry was employed at the Jonathan Club for over 50 years, its members and his fellow employees becoming like a second family. Not long after moving to Los Angeles Enrique met Isabel Quiroz, though they did not marry until many years later. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Isabel, and their six children: Ana Maria, Enrique II (Rick), Jose, Juan Manuel, Luis Antonio and Bernardo, along with seven grandchildren. He had many passions and hobbies, from beekeeping to world travel, and he loved sharing these experiences with his wife and kids. Most important to Enrique after his family was his love of God and the Catholic Church. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and also the Third Order of St. Francis, and spent countless hours volunteering at various churches or with Catholic organizations. He lived every day of his life doing his best to ensure he would one day be with his Creator. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21st, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1523 Golden Gate Ave. in Los Angeles at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Outreach Program.
