Ephraim Joseph Hirsch Obituary
September 13, 1930 - September 3, 2016 Ephraim (Effie) Joseph Hirsch was born in Chicago on September 13, 1930, five years after his big brother, Leonard, whom he adored. They were first generation Americans, their parents having moved from Poland to the United States in the early 1920s. The Hirsch family later moved to San Pedro, California, where Ephraim attended junior high and high school. After spending three years in the Army during the Korean War, Ephraim returned to UCLA, his undergraduate alma mater, to complete his law degree and earn his JD. He started his long and successful law career at the District Attorney's office, and then ventured out into his own private practice in Century City, where he stayed until age 75. Never really ready to retire, he continued with pro bono work well into his 80s. Ephraim will be remembered for many things by many people, but in particular, his morals, values and pure honesty, which touched and inspired the lives of many. Loved during every second of his life and continuing on for the rest of his family's lives, Ephraim leaves behind his beloved wife, Annita, to whom he was married for almost forty years; two children, Ian (wife Ton) and Carrie; two grandchildren, Miles and Dexter; three nieces, Karen (husband Manny), Anita and Linda; and two grand-nieces, Sarah and Julie. This fine man will never be forgotten and will be missed more than words can say.
