August 2, 1930 - September 7, 2016 Ernest, "Ernie" G. Valverde 86 died Tuesday, September 7, 2016 from complications related to lung cancer. His passing was peaceful. He leaves behind his life partner Steve Robinson; brothers include Richard Valverde (Bea) of Fallbrook, CA., George Jarvis (Tonya) of Northridge, and sisters' Nancy Valverde of Hollywood, CA., Emma Valverde of Studio City, CA. and Lupe Martinez of Covina, CA. as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Concha Jarvis (Mother) and Ernest Valverde Sr. and Jimmy Valverde of Deming New Mexico, his birthplace. Ernie created and collaborated with many talented artists to entertain many at PLAZA at 739 N. La Brea Ave at Melrose. Respected throughout the world as one of the best places to see artists create illusions and Drag Shows of American and Mexican pop artists always mixing the environment with the various types of Latino Music. Always a fan of Mariachi he appreciated all the support of all people including the LGBT Community and the multi cultures, which came together to experience the best diversity a Nightclub dance and show experience when enjoying the local culture. Prior to PLAZA he was head chef at DAVID'S on Melrose and started a revolution of providing entertainment for the Latino population and celebrated his 41st year in business in August. A public service will be conducted at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, and Visitation 11AM - 3PM. A Catholic Mass starts at 4:00PM followed by graveside services. All are welcome. Long admired by many it is satisfying to know the team at PLAZA remains strong in his honor.
