Ernest Robert "Bob" Meissner Obituary
December 19, 1921 - March 9, 2016 Bob passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on March 9, 2016, in the presence of his family. He was 94 years old. Beloved husband to Rosemary and father of nine, he is survived by eight of his children: Kathleen, Ernest Robert III (Bobbie), Susan, Marylin, Joan, Thomas, Michael, and Jonathan. Born in St. Louis, Missouri to Josephine (Rauschenbach) and Ernest Meissner, he moved with his parents at six months of age to the Dallas area of Texas and at age sixteen the family moved to California. He was the eldest of eight and is survived by six brothers. A navy veteran of WWII he served in the South Pacific on the transport ship USS President Jackson from 1942 to 1945. He married in 1947 and with a growing family and business was also able to help his brothers. He built a successful electrical contracting business, and his red Chevrolet truck emblazoned with "Spark Electric" was easily recognized. His great love of the outdoors he shared with his children on yearly camping vacations. He had many interests including cooking, gardening, beekeeping and his family. Upmost he was a servant of the Lord and active in his parish, St. Dominic's in Eagle Rock. He ministered to the sick and infirm of the community and was a member of the Legion of Mary. He greatly missed his sweetheart Rosemary. He was present when she died in 2009 and told her to hold the gate open for him. Now they rest together Amen. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 21st, 9:30am, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 2002 Merton ave., Los Angeles. 90041 Please visit cabotandsonsfh.com for further information and online guestbook submissions.
