Ethel Chance Sellars Obituary
May 16, 1921 - July 2, 2015 Ethel Chance Sellars was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 16, 1921. She passed away at home in Redondo Beach on July 2, 2015 from cancer. She was the daughter of Joseph Harvey Chance and Grace Stock Chance. She married John R. Sellars in 1950 while attending graduate school at the University of Michigan, and they moved to California in1955 with their family. She was the mother of James D. Sellars, Mary Ellen Barnes and Christopher R. Sellars and was the mother¿in¿law of Pamela Largay Sellars and J. Philip Barnes, all of whom she loved dearly. In her younger days she was an active member of both the League of Women Voters Torrance Area and the Riviera Garden Club. She continued to be a supporter of both organizations for the rest of her life. She was also an avid reader, reading several books each week. She is survived by her husband John, her daughter and son¿in¿law, her son and daughter¿in¿law, her sisters¿in¿law Mabelle I.Chance and Irene Chance and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son James. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother¿in¿law, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed. There will be no funeral service. She asked to be cremated and buried at sea. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to either of her favorite organizations: the League of Women Voters Torrance Area, P.O.
