Eugene Francis Wedige Obituary
December 8, 1930 - September 2, 2016 Wedige, Sr. Eugene Francis, C.S.J. age 85, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA. Born December 8, 1930 in San Francisco, California, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet since March 19, 1950. She had five siblings whose teasing instilled in her a great sense of humor and a propensity for tall tales for the rest of her life. For 33 years Sr. Eugene Francis taught in Catholic elementary schools, first in Northern California and then in south Central Los Angeles. She continued this service at Bishop Conaty High School in Los Angeles where she was a loved English and religion teacher. Sister Eugene Francis was dedicated to teaching the three R's, but most importantly, teaching each child to know his/her importance as a person of dignity and self-worth. She loved the time spent in Afro-American communities: the people, culture, gospel music and traditional Negro spirituals. She generously used her gifts to pray, heal, teach, love and forgive with gentleness, peace, and joy. She is survived by her niece Loretta Perry and friend Angela Faustina. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Carondelet Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 4:30PM with Funeral Mass at 6:30PM. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 10:00AM at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
